HAP PE day - Nottingham University (4/12/18)
On Tuesday 4th December, four Year 6 children were taken to David Ross Sports Village (part of Nottingham University) as part of the 'Higher Attaining Pupils' PE day aimed to inspire and motivate children to continue to participate in sport once they have left Primary School. During the day, the children took part in and learned about various activities including badminton and climbing. As you can tell from the photos, they had a great time in a stunningly impressive venue.
Boccia competition - 29/3/2018
On Thursday 29th March, two KS1 teams took part in a boccia competition, hosted in our school hall. 4 teams were taking part. All of the children who took part tried their BEST and were a credit to the school. After much hard work, great effort and fun, we finished in 1st place, a great achievement for the Awsworth A team who all received a medal!
Rowing competition - 8/2/2018
On Thursday 8th February, a team of rowers travelled to George Spencer Academy to compete in a rowing competition. 16 teams were taking part, each team comprising of a Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 girl and boy. All of the children who went represented the school excellently and achieved their BEST. After much hard work, great effort and fun, we finished in 5th place, an incredible result.
Lacrosse competition - 7/2/2018
On Wednesday 7th February, a team of 7 KS2 children went to a lacrosse competition at The Kimberley School. Following some training at an after school club, all of the team were well prepared to perform well. We won our first match 2-0 against Larkfields and our second match 4-1 against Hollywell showing great speed in attack and tactical awareness. Following our two wins, we qualified for the final but unfortunately came up short, losing 4-3 in a fiercely competitive game. Well done to all of the children, you all represented the school excellently and should be proud of your performance.
Dodgeball competition - 30/11/2017
On Thursday 30th November, we took two teams of 6 children to a dodgeball competition at a neighboring primary school. Both teams represented the school excellently, showing a good positive attitude, fair sportsmanship and a competitive edge. Awsworth 'B' as the team were named finished 5th out of the 6 teams there and Awsworth 'A' finished 1st, winning the final in comprehensive fashion. Well done to all of the children who took part, you were all great!
