Children in KS1 have undertaken a topic in science this term investigating the impact of waste on the environment. Willow class thought carefully about everyday items they might throw away at home or school and considered how else they could dispose of them to help the environment. This recycling project linked nicely to one of the articles that Willow class chose to focus on this year- Article 24- our right to be healthy and live in a healthy environment. As right’s holders, our class monitors always remember to switch off the lights when we leave the classroom and think carefully about which bins to use for waste paper and card.
Lots of discussion took place about recycling spectacles and the children thought carefully about children around the world who may not have access to the things they took for granted. We also talked about charity shops and their place in society.
