RSPB Birdwatch

RSPB Birdwatch

Today we wrapped up warmly, put on our wellies and went up onto the school field to take part in the RSPB Birdwatch.  We had to stand quite still and quiet in order not to frighten the birds away! Armed with our clipboards, pencils and binoculars, we carefully counted and recorded the different species of birds that we saw.

After an hour of waiting and watching the birds, we warmed up with a hot chocolate and one of Anais's birthday cakes.

A HUGE thank you to Pete Making (Annabel and Theo's grandad) for his expert help in identifying the birds.

We will submit our results on the RSPB website which will allow bird experts to track changes in bird population and support bird species that are in decline. You can see the results of the 2022 Big Garden Birdwatch here, after the 20th February:

Here are the birds we spotted during our Birdwatch on the school field. Thank you to Pete Makings, our bird expert and photographer extraordinaire, for his brilliant photography!
